Jan Slezak, MD, FIPP, DABIPP, is a double board-certified pain management specialist who has particular expertise in the interventional management of pain and functional medicine.
Dr. Slezak graduated summa cum laude from Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 1986. After completing his medical degree, he undertook a general surgery residency at the National Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases at the University Hospital in Bratislava. Dr. Slezak also underwent specialized training in cardiac and vascular surgery and is a board-certified surgeon in the Slovak Republic. When Dr. Slezak moved to the United States, he continued his training with an internship and residency in anesthesia at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. In 1997, Dr. Slezak completed a fellowship in pain management at Massachusetts General Hospital, part of Harvard Medical School, in Boston. He joined the sta of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Pain Center, where he spent many years as a consultant. In 2007 Dr. Slezak was awarded the Fellow of Interventional Pain Physician certificate by the World Institute of Pain.
